Verdict: While it won't be remembered as one of Aardman's better animated films, Early Man is nevertheless a fun, fast-paced romp boosted by knowing voice performances, excellent visuals and a wealth of satire about the state of modern football.

Though it follows the typical sports movie formula to a T, the over-the-top characters and expected Aardman charm make it an easy sit regardless. Not the home run you might want it to be, but undeniably alluring, especially for a January animation.
