Ranking January 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

16. Insidious: The Last Key

RottenTomatoes Score: 31% (5.0/10)

Box Office: Proving that early January is always fertile ground for horror fare, the fourth Insidious film scored the second-highest opening of the franchise.

Having grossed almost $150 million against a mere $10 million budget, it's also the series' second most successful entry, behind Insidious: Chapter 2's $161.9 million. Needless to say, number five will be here before you know it.

Verdict: And now we move onto theatrical releases, with a movie only marginally more tolerable than Netflix's aforementioned duds.

Though Lin Shaye continues to be a compelling mascot for the Insidious franchise, The Last Key is a depressingly formulaic, chintzy horror flick, with predictable scares, lame humour and a virtually nonsensical plot. All but the series' most devoted acolytes should absolutely avoid.
