Ranking January 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

12. The Last Laugh

The Last Laugh Chevy Chase Richard Dreyfuss Andie Macdowell
Netflix

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 50% (5.3/10)

Box Office: Direct-to-Netflix.

Verdict: A low-effort comedy made watchable almost single-handedly by the two-hander between Richard Dreyfuss and Chevy Chase, The Last Laugh may be lit like a bad sitcom and merely cycle through the "one last ride" cliches, but as breezy, easy viewing, it more or less works.

Chase is his typical grumpy self here, while it falls to Dreyfuss to carry the bulk of the film's (admittedly predictable) emotional load.

There's virtually nothing fresh or inventive throughout, but The Last Laugh is just charming enough to avoid feeling like yet another cynical Netflix Original.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
