Ranking January 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

11. A Dog's Way Home

A Dog S Way Home
Sony Pictures Releasing

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 57% (5.3/10)

Box Office: Never count against dogs at the box office. This $18 million family adventure film is close to tripling its budget, and it's easy to see it performing even better once it hits home video.

Verdict: Despite being marketed as yet another down-the-line family movie with cute dogs and zero substance, A Dog's Way Home is a surprisingly bleak film at times, for which it should be somewhat commended.

The canines are adorable and Bryce Dallas Howard brings the requisite pep to the table, though some awful animal CGI and a script that doesn't always meld its tones particularly well makes this more of an oddity than a total success.

It deserves praise for trying to be a little more substantial than your usual dog movie, but it's also totally all over the place.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
