Ranking January 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

10. The Mule

The Mule Clint Eastwood
Warner Bros.

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 70% (6.0/10)

Box Office: 88-year-old Clint Eastwood is still a box office draw, with his $50 million crime drama having grossed $115+ million to date. Not one of the filmmaker's bigger hits, but decent enough.

Verdict: Few will hold The Mule up as one of Eastwood's better directorial efforts, but as an increasingly rare opportunity to see the Hollywood legend working in front of the camera, it delivers the simple goods.

Though the film hardly makes the most of the fascinating true story of elderly horticulturalist-turned-drug mule Leo Sharp, Eastwood's perfect casting and agreeably subdued performance anchors an otherwise hit-and-miss, overlong film.

Not the awards contender many were hoping for, but a solid apology for the utter dreck that was The 15:17 to Paris last year.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
