Box Office: Even with a mere $10 million budget, all-star cast and the clout of This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, Life Itself has been unable to fend off near-universal critical scorn, grossing just $7.6 million worldwide to date.

Verdict: An hilariously overwrought drama loaded with silly twists and earnest performances from an overqualified cast, Life Itself so desperately wants to be an emotionally rewarding, awards-worthy drama, but in turn ends up feeling like a parody of one.

The performances are fine enough - especially a brilliant Laia Costa - but between its pretentious dialogue and tone-deaf reveals, this is surely a million miles away from what Fogelman and his cast expected the movie to be.
