Rotten Tomatoes Score: 54% (5.8/10) Box Office: Produced on a modest $74 million (for an animated film), Minions has raked in over 10x that amount so far, and isn't showing any sign of letting up soon. Don't be shocked if it joins Furious 7 and Jurassic World as Universal's third billion dollar-grosser this year, in what would be a tremendous achievement for the studio. The Verdict: How much you'll enjoy this one depends entirely on how tolerant you are of the yellow, peanut-shaped titular characters, and though many concede that it's not particularly smart or sophisticated, it delivers exactly what fans will expect: hilarious slapstick and an utterly insane plot. Minions moves so fast that it's nigh-on impossible to be bored, and Sandra Bullock in particular is excellent as the villainous Scarlet Overkill. The plot makes about as much sense as trying to adapt a milk carton into a movie, but it's self-consciously silly and features some ludicrously entertaining set-pieces.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
