Ranking July 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

2. Captain Fantastic

Ghostbusters Jason Bourne Ice Age
Bleecker Street

RottenTomatoes Score: 79% (6.9/10)

Box Office: Well, it probably didn't cost very much, but it's only made $2.4 millon in cinemas, so it's going nowhere.

Verdict: Viggo Mortensen gives an outstanding performance as a father with an unconventional approach to parenting his horde of children, and though it's easy to see the film's marketing and assume it's another gratingly quirky, pretentious Sundance indie, it's actually surprisingly, startlingly emotive stuff.

Though audiences may be split on the film's approach to a variety of social issues facing families today, the dialogue it opens up is undeniably thought-provoking, and it's hard not to be moved by the committed work from not just Mortensen but his younger co-stars as well.
