Verdict: One of the year's most impressive directorial debuts so far, Daniel Kokotajlo's drama about a young Jehova's Witness being forced to shun her own sister is an absolutely searing, devastatingly authentic experience.

Awards-worthy performances from Molly Wright, Sacha Parkinson and Siobhan Finneran enhance a quietly intense script and moody direction, surrendering the cult-like nature of religious fanaticism and the damage it does to good people.

Not the most cinematic film you'll see this year, but stunningly grounded and sure to linger long in the mind once it's all over.
