Ranking July 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

18. Extinction

RottenTomatoes Score: 0% (3.4/10)

Box Office: Straight-to-Netflix.

Verdict: Oh boy. Despite the appealing presences of Michael Pena and Lizzy Caplan, Extinction is yet another genre film that was originally supposed to hit cinemas, but because the studio realised its commercial prospects were D.O.A., they quickly flogged it to Netflix.

Though there are some amusing third-act reveals, for the most part this is a mouldy, dull sci-fi romp with utterly pedestrian performances from its cast.

The most painful aspect, though, is the bargain basement-calibre CGI, which frequently induces laughter and thoroughly distracts from the film's overly self-serious tone. Oof.
