Ranking June 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

4. Dope

RottenTomatoes Score: 89% (7.5/10) Box Office: Dope has made almost $8.4 million to date, which for an evidently low-budget Sundance indie is quite the success indeed. It no doubt helped that the movie miraculously came out in over 2000 cinemas despite starring almost no major actors, though given that roll-out, perhaps a much wider gross was expected. The Verdict: Rick Famuyiwa's delightful coming-of-age film takes a familiar premise and imbues it with a ton of attitude, while wringing two fine central performances out of Shameik Moore and Kiersey Clemons. The film feels wholly current, a unique riff on the high school movies everybody's seen a million times updated for 2015, and also betrays a lot of character stereotypes audiences may be expecting, but in a way that isn't at all obnoxious.
