RottenTomatoes Score: 60% (5.5/10) Box Office: Made for just $10 million, there was no way Insidious: Chapter 3 was ever going to flop, and true to that point, it's made an impressive $78.9 million so far. Still, it's trailing the second movie's final $161.9 million gross by quite a way (despite being made at double the price tag), so expect a final gross closer to the original's $97 million. The Verdict: Even if it pretty much delivers just what audiences expect and little in terms of surprise, this third outing is a significant improvement over the tedious second movie, in large part because the focus is shifted more towards Lin Shaye's terrific Elise Rainier character. You know when the jump scares are coming and it all feels relatively mechanised by this point, but the simpler, more streamlined plot works well enough, and the performances are probably better than the material deserves. Not quite as good as the original, but if you're a fan of the series, it delivers the basic goods.
