RottenTomatoes Score: 70% (6.5/10 average) Box Office: Costing "less than $10 million", this niche Al Pacino venture has made just $91,307 after a week on release in just five cinemas, so it's another in a long line of art-house busts for the legendary actor. The Verdict: It's simply a relief to see Al Pacino acting his a** off for the first time in what feels like forever, for while Danny Collins sure ain't perfect, critics are mostly happy to give it a pass on those grounds. Playing an aging rock star in the midst of an existential crisis, Pacino gets to do some of his most interesting work in quite some time, and a ridiculously stacked cast, including Annette Bening, Christopher Plummer, Bobby Cannavale and Jennifer Garner, certainly doesn't hurt. Even though the negative reviews criticise its sentimentality and some of the later-day twists, most of them couldn't find much fault with Pacino's performance, which is generally powerful enough to paper over the occasionally on-the-nose script.
