RottenTomatoes Score: 87% (7/10 average) Box Office: The budget was small (if undisclosed), and Kumiko has grossed $43,491 to date from just 4 cinemas, so nothing to write home about here (though certainly an impressive per-screen average). The Verdict: If you're after something completely different, this is the movie for you. Rinko Kikuchi gives one of her best performances to date as a lonely young woman whose primary means of escape is an old VHS copy of the Coen Brothers movie Fargo, and in her obsession she comes to believe that the money buried at the end of the movie actually exists. The result of Kumiko's journey to Minnesota is a quirky, darkly hilarious, tragic and beautifully shot drama which drips with humanity and is also a testament to the power of cinema. Not to be missed.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
