RottenTomatoes Score: 92% (7.9/10)

Box Office: Impressively, the R-rated superhero movie is closing in on $600 million worldwide against its $97 million budget. Sure, it's not doing Deadpool money ($783.1 million), but fans still showed up in droves for Wolverine's swan song, allowing it to even out-gross last summer's PG-13-rated X-Men: Apocalypse.

Verdict: Hugh Jackman gives an astonishing, Oscar-worthy performance in his final outing, a brutally violent and achingly human superhero movie that stands among the genre's very best efforts such as The Dark Knight, The Avengers and X-Men 2.

James Mangold's gorgeous direction, a gritty tone and a bevy of electric supporting performances (especially Patrick Stewart and young Dafne Keen) ensure Logan never lets up, and sets an incredibly high bar for other comic book films that dare to dabble in more adult themes.

And admit it, you cried at the end.
