Ranking March 2017's Movies From Worst To Best
3. The Lost City Of Z
RottenTomatoes Score: 87% (7.3/10)
Box Office: With an international rollout kicking off in France and the U.K., James Gray's adventure drama has made $1.9 million to date. It remains to be seen whether or not the U.S. release on April 21st can make it a hit, but it doesn't seem terribly likely, especially as the film clearly wasn't made on the cheap.
Verdict: Gray (The Immigrant) directs the Hell out of this long but ferociously involving drama, while Charlie Hunnam gives easily the best performance of his career to date.
Beautifully shot on 35mm and bearing more than a few comparisons to Apocalypse Now, The Lost City of Z is an intense but also often unexpectedly funny epic that's likely to fly under the radar, but could certainly gain esteem as a genre classic in the coming years. Don't miss it.
