Ranking March 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

17. What Men Want

What Men Want
Paramount Pictures

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 46% (5.2/10)

Box Office: Impressively produced for a sensible $20 million, the rom-com has proven a solid minor hit, almost crossing the $70 million mark worldwide.

It's probably not enough for a sequel - and miles away from the $374.1 million final total of its inspiration, 2000's What Women Want - but a good showing nonetheless.

Verdict: Undeniably one of the more intriguing movies to "gender swap", What Men Want makes the most of the effortlessly charismatic Taraji P. Henson, even if this fantasy rom-com is mainstream to a fault, deigning to the genre's most patronising sensibilities.

It's also almost two hours long and padded out with several agonising subplots, elongating what should've been a snappy, breezy outing. It's a timely movie in the #MeToo era, if not quite as forward-thinking as it thinks it is.
