Ranking May 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

9. The D-Train

RottenTomatoes Score: 43% (5.5/10) Box Office: Though the film's budget hasn't been officially disclosed, it's probably not low enough to make the $669,688 box office gross profitable. To further rub salt in the wound, its paltry opening weekend ranks as the 15th worst opening for a wide release film in U.S. movie history. Even with its more comfortable place in the home video/VOD market some time down the line, this one's a bust. The Verdict: While critics were quick to praise Jack Black's performance, they weren't quite so thrilled with the rather messy plot, which struggles to strike an even tone between its light gags and the overwhelming pall of darkness which pervades throughout. There were some who came out in defence of the film's hugely unexpected plot twist, which others felt was on-the-nose and shock for its own sake. In short, if you're a big fan of Black, give it a go, but otherwise it's a very hit-and-miss affair best saved for Netflix'ing on a rainy Sunday afternoon at best.
