Ranking May 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

8. Last Days In The Desert

Alice Through The Looking Glass X Men Apocalypse The Nice Guys
Broad Green Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 71% (6.7/10)

Box Office: No financial information is available from the film's limited release, so you can bet it wasn't a success.

Verdict: At a time when faith-based movies feel more generic, predictable and pandering than ever, here's one that at least, for all of its faults, is a breath of fresh air.

Ewan McGregor takes double duty as both Jesus and the Devil here, and while it could easily have ended up as immensely goofy, he totally nails the duality of these characters.

It ultimately may not all amount to a satisfying dramatic conclusion, but the journey itself is a fascinating engagement with its subject, and Emmanuel Lubezki's cinematography is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
