Ranking May 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best
7. Maggie's Plan
RottenTomatoes Score: 79% (6.8/10)
Box Office: The budget isn't known, but having made just $225,000 from the specialty box office, there's nothing to write home about here.
Verdict: While it's fair to say that this feels like a sub-Woody Allen movie in every fabric of its being, that's not all that bad a label.
After all, this is a smart, wryly funny and well-acted romantic dramedy that broaches a litany of down-to-Earth issues facing couples today.
Greta Gerwig may not be deviating much from the type she's carved out for herself over the years, but she's an amiable lead, and Ethan Hawke also does fine work, even if both are inevitably outshone by the fantastic Julianne Moore, who steals every scene she's in.
Not amazing, but certainly a cut above the average indie comedy-drama.
