Ranking May 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

14. The Trust

Alice Through The Looking Glass X Men Apocalypse The Nice Guys
Saban Films

RottenTomatoes Score: 52% (5.3/10)

Box Office: Though no financial information is available, it's safe to say that nobody got rich off this one, considering Nicolas Cage's decreasing box office relevance, the movie being released on DirecTV several weeks before its theatrical release, and the fact it went straight-to-VOD the same day it hit cinemas. The Trust...is a bust (sorry).

Verdict: A surprisingly watchable effort for a DTV Nicolas Cage movie, Cage delivers a genuinely hysterical performance here that's among his more unhinged in recently memory, and has him well and truly firing on all cylinders.

There's more humour here than you might expect and Cage's chemistry with Elijah Wood is entertaining: just don't expect a ton of depth and you may find yourself unexpectedly surprised by this one. It's no masterpiece, but Cage devours the film whole, and it's absurdly fun to watch.
