Ranking May 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

2. The Levelling

RottenTomatoes Score: 92% (7.5/10)

Box Office: This British indie drama has made close to $70,000 worldwide, barely 10% of its approximate $600,000 price tag.

Verdict: Writer-director Hope Dickson Leach makes one Hell of a debut with this searing drama about a young woman (Game of Thrones' Ellie Kendrick) returning to her family farm following the suicide of her brother.

Kendrick gives a magnificent performance in this quiet but consistently engrossing film that wastes not a moment of its 83-minute run-time, and even with its tiny budget, The Levelling still manages to deliver some stunningly haunting visuals. Leach is a sure talent to watch.
