Ranking May 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

9. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

RottenTomatoes Score: 32% (4.7/10)

Box Office: Even though it opened considerably below expectations and is the smallest overall debut for the franchise, Jack Sparrow's fifth adventure has already recouped its huge $230 million budget, and will be an easy success in the long run, even if it's unlikely to repeat the billion dollar highs of earlier entries.

Verdict: Yes, Kaya Scodelario and Javier Bardem bring plenty of charm to the table, but the fifth Pirates movie is most often a middling blockbuster that represents the series' best effort since Dead Man's Chest...which isn't saying much at all.

The action sequences dazzle and it moves along at a pacy clip, but Johnny Depp's basically just sleepwalking through his part at this point, and the fan service aspects are pretty uninspired.
