Ranking May 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

10. A Dog's Purpose

A Dog S Purpose Dennis Quaid
Universal Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 29% (4.7/10)

Box Office: Even with considerable controversy about the movie's on-set treatment of its dog stars, the $22 million weepie has scored an impressive $192.3 million worldwide. As history has proven time and time again, dead dogs bring in the big bucks.

Verdict: You know what? A Dog's Purpose is an unapologetic tear-jerker, and with that in mind, it's really not as terrible as you're probably expecting. It's by no means a good film, but the earnest performances and cute dogs make it a relatively easy sit, even if the blatant manipulation of seeing a dog die several times in one movie may be too much for more sensitive audiences.

You pretty much know already whether you'll like it, but it's certainly not the worst-of-the-year hopeful those trailers suggested it might be.
