Ranking May 2017's Movies From Worst To Best
8. Snatched
RottenTomatoes Score: 37% (5.2/10)
Box Office: Amy Schumer's $42 million comedy has just barely scraped its slightly bloated price tag back. It'll do fine on VOD platforms, though.
Verdict: The pairing of Schumer with Goldie Hawn is fine for a few laughs, but Snatched never really begins to mine the satirical potential of its premise, and instead settles for the easy gag every time. It's particularly disappointing as the film is directed by the rock solid Jonathan Levine (The Wackness, 50/50, The Night Before).
Ike Barinholtz gives a genuinely hilarious performance as Schumer's agoraphobic brother, though, and it's hardly aggressively bad throughout, just surprisingly safe and a bit of a comedown after Schumer's fantastic Trainwreck.
