RottenTomatoes Score: 86% (7.1/10) Box Office: The $99 million animation has made a solid $120.4 million after three weeks on general release, all the more impressive considering that it has yet to open in a number of major markets, which will give it a significant boost and ensure it's a decent hit in the long run. Verdict: Much like last year's Paddington, this is a film that could so easily have tried to be current and shove pop-culture references and Twitter down our throats, but it pleasantly decides to exist inside a vacuum instead, serving up refreshingly old-school charm alongside some gorgeous animation. It's not the most nuanced family film ever made but it doesn't need to be: like Shaun The Sheep from earlier this year, its beauty comes from its simplicity, and given how underwhelming the trailers looked, it's a pleasant surprise that the final product doesn't tarnish the legacy of these lovely characters.
