Ranking November 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

6. Nocturnal Animals

Fantastic Beasts Arrival Bad Santa 2
Focus Features

RottenTomatoes Score: 72% (7.1/10)

Box Office: On a $22.5 million budget, the Oscar-buzzed drama has made a disappointing $8.5 million to date.

Verdict: Tom Ford's (A Single Man) second feature is a stylistically lavish and superbly acted melodrama that, while inherently quite ridiculous, succeeds because it jumps in with both feet and totally commits to its daftness.

Jake Gyllehnaal and Amy Adams are typically excellent, but it's Michael Shannon who's probably the most likely to score awards love with a magnificent and unexpectedly hilarious supporting performance.

It's grim, bizarre and twisty, so it won't be for all tastes, but for those prepared to take the wild ride, it's a decadent treat quite like nothing else released this year.
