Ranking November 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

12. The Accountant

Fantastic Beasts Arrival Bad Santa 2
Warner Bros.

RottenTomatoes Score: 51% (5.6/10)

Box Office: On a budget of $44 million, Ben Affleck's new movie has made a solid $140.9 million to date.

Verdict: Without question, the absolutely highlight here is Ben Affleck, who gives a strong performance as an autistic accountant with a Very Special Set of Skills.

Where the film falls apart, then, is with its utterly forgettable central narrative. What probably would've functioned better as a character drama with light action elements waltzes through a rather generic crime thriller set-up, complete with a totally tacked-on Mary Sue investigator character who could've been cut from the movie without hurting it at all.

The supporting cast is great (especially J.K. Simmons and Jon Bernthal) and the script's surprising amount of humour blends well with Affleck's unlikely protagonist. It's just a shame the core isn't more focused.
