6. Marjorie Prime

RottenTomatoes Score: 89% (7.5/10)

Box Office: Budgetary data isn't available, but the sci-fi drama has made $216,175 on limited release so far, not counting VOD sales.

Verdict: Though it might be too obviously adapted from a play for some tastes (with its decidedly un-cinematic staging), Marjorie Prime is a fascinating window into a potential future where dead loved ones can be "resurrected" with hologram technology.

Jon Hamm and the legendary Lois Smith give especially memorable performance in a haunting film about love, death, memory and the role technology plays in all three.

With all the big-budget bombast hitting screens as of late, this is just the tonic for those craving a quieter, more subdued movie.
