Ranking October 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

5. Macbeth

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90% (7.6/10) Box Office: Macbeth's budget has been estimated at $15-20 million, and it's made just $4.5 million worldwide to date, making it an undeniable bomb. The Verdict: Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) directs arguably the most sumptuous and visceral adaptation of The Bard's play ever made: every frame looks like a painting, and Michael Fassbender helps shoot the source material to new heights with an all-time classic interpretation of the character. Yes, the Shakespearean dialogue is as challenging as ever, all the more so with strong Scottish accents throughout, but the heft of the story is what matters, and that's made abundant by eye-wateringly gorgeous cinematography, brutal action sequences and great work from not just Fassbender but also the likes of Marion Cotillard and Sean Harris. Above all else, Kurzel's approach here damn-near confirms that he's going to bring something very interesting indeed to his upcoming Assassin's Creed video game adaptation, which also stars Fassbender and Cotillard, and will again use Adam Arkapaw as his cinematographer.
