Box Office: It certainly didn't cost much to make, though its paltry $20,687 worldwide take combined with incredibly niche subject matter means this one's going nowhere financially.

Verdict: This mind-boggling experimental documentary follows actress Kate Lyn Sheil as she attempts to play Christine Chubbuck, a news reporter who fatally shot herself on air in 1974.

At once an examination of what drove Chubbuck to kill herself in such theatrical fashion and a deep probe into the psychological toll of acting, Kate Plays Christine won't be for all tastes, but by cleverly playing with audience expectations, it reinterprets Chubbuck's tragic demise in a fascinating way.

While the film is rather on the long side, Sheil gives a superb performance that makes it well worth a sit.
