Box Office: Denis Villeneuve's hugely-anticipated $150–185 million sci-fi sequel grossed well below initial expectations domestically and didn't fare much better internationally, even being beaten out by Geostorm in China.

Though it's made its budget back, considering how heavily this was marketed, it's clearly a huge disappointment for Warner Bros, likely affected by the lengthy runtime, obscure marketing and niche subject matter.

Verdict: A stunning masterpiece that arguably matches or even surpasses the original Blade Runner, this belated follow-up is one of the best-looking movies ever made, in large part due to Roger Deakins' Oscar-worthy cinematography, and Villeneuve's patient direction.

The ensemble cast is terrific, the plotting is frequently unexpected and it even musters some surprising emotion. Oh, and Harrison Ford doesn't phone it in, which is nice. It's too long, yes, and not for everyone, but fans of the original will largely enjoy it.
