Ranking October 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

16. Hunter Killer

Hunter Killer Gerard Butler Michael Nyqvist
Summit Entertainment

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 34% (4.6/10)

Box Office: To the surprise of absolutely no-one, the barely-marketed, $40 million submarine thriller has just barely passed the $10 million mark so far, making it Gerard Butler's worst opening since 2012's Playing for Keeps. A dud, as expected.

Verdict: An undeniably bad movie with an excessive run-time and some howlingly ropey CGI, but occasionally boosted by a commanding Gerard Butler performance, its absurd - if well-meaning - political message and the odd flash of self-awareness.

Sadly it mostly takes itself far too seriously, though, and it's a bit depressing that this is probably the last thing most people will see the late Michael Nyqvist in (who died over a year ago, showing you just how long this thing has been in the can).
