Ranking October 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

11. Apostle

Apostle Dan Stevens
Netflix

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 79% (6.7/10)

Box Office: Direct-to-Netflix.

Verdict: The Raid's Gareth Evans tries his hand at the horror genre with this richly atmospheric film about a man (Dan Stevens) travelling to a remote Welsh island to rescue his sister from a cult.

It has undeniable shades of The Wicker Man, of course, but Evans also forges his own path with a slow-burn descent into madness that culminates in a nauseatingly bloody third act.

Stevens is typically brilliant - as is Michael Sheen - and though it runs a little too long for its own good, Apostle is yet another win for Netflix and their hands-off approach with auteur filmmakers.
