5. The Magnificent Seven

Mark Wahlberg Deepwater Horizon Eva Green Miss Peregrine

RottenTomatoes Score: 62% (6.0/10)

Box Office: The approximately $100 million blockbuster grossed an impressive $35.7 million in its opening U.S. weekend, and is already well on its way to being a financial success, what with little direct competition to speak of in the coming weeks.

Verdict: A riotously entertaining remake of the classic 1960 western, The Magnificent Seven sees director Antoine Fuqua (London Has Fallen, The Equalizer) serve up gorgeous visuals, thrilling action and a terrifically game cast.

More than anything else, this film is just so much fun (even if it's also surprisingly violent for a PG-13 movie), with the charisma and charm of the seven men making it an easy sit, while Fuqua doles out a ton of spectacular action, especially in that brilliant third act.

Critics broadly praised it, but this honestly might be one of the year's most underrated films so far.
