Ranking September 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

8. Mother!

Jennifer Lawrence Mother!
Paramount Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 67% (6.7/10)

Box Office: After receiving the dreaded and extremely rare "F" CinemaScore grade, Darren Aronofsky's latest effort opened at around half of initial projections, marking the lowest-ever debut for a film where Jennifer Lawrence received top billing.

At present, the film is just about to make its mere $30 million budget back. Paramount will no doubt be hoping that it becomes a cult hit on home video, which is actually quite possible.

Verdict: Aronofsky delivers the year's most polarising Hollywood film by far with this comically unsubtle metaphorical tale of God, motherhood and the environment.

Jennifer Lawrence gives a cracking performance in the lead role, and whether or not the movie's various twists and turns are to your liking, it's hard to deny that there's nothing else out there quite like this.
