13. Sierra Burgess Is A Loser

Verdict: A relatively mediocre Netflix teen comedy elevated somewhat by a solid performance from Stranger Things' Shannon Purser, this is nevertheless another of those movies which thinks its protagonist is far more likeable and charming than they actually are.

Ultimately, Sierra's more of an a**hole than the film is ever prepared to admit she is, such that her inevitable self-improvement ends up feeling a bit hollow.

It's cute to a point and the cinematography is above Netflix's usual low genre standard, but the film's blatant romanticising of catfishing leaves a sour taste, and you'll need to be pretty forgiving of teen movie cliches to truly enjoy it.
