10. Franky Four Fingers
Who: Benicio Del Toro's fearless gambling-addicted outlaw.
What he knows about diamonds: we first meet Franky when he's masquerading as a rabbi while pulling off a heist for the pivotal stone of which the entire film revolves around. We later learn that he's an icy-calm gang member with an unfortunate penchant for gambling, so it's safe to say that he has his stubby fingers in many pies; diamond-flavoured or otherwise. His suave manner and built-up reputation in the film's early scenes help to paint him as a key figure in the plot.
His palpable cool, however, is lost for good when he winds up knocked out by the otherwise bumbling Tyrone, held with a bag over his head by the largely clueless Sol and Vinny, and shot in the head by Boris the Blade. It's a very unceremonious and quick exit for a character that initially seemed to promise so much.
Best quote: though you'd never know it by his laid-back demeanour, time is money for Franky - money that could be better spent making stupid bets with dangerous people. "I have stones to sell, fat to chew, and many different men to see about many different dogs, so if I am not rushing you..."
