Ranking The Best Characters From Snatch - 20 Years Later
11. Doug "The Head" Denovitz
Who: a Jewish London diamond dealer, who is not really Jewish.
What he knows about diamonds: rather a lot, as it's in his job description. As Turkish describes, if it's stones and it's stolen, Doug "The Head" is the man to speak to. When all is said and done, Doug's also the man inspecting the central diamonds at the end of their long journey through London.
The Head is all the way down near the foot of the rankings, however, because he doesn't really do a whole lot other than getting repeatedly insulted by his cousin Avi. He also has to watch as Vinnie Jones sits comfortably between his beautiful twin daughters.
In fact, telling a bunch of kids to disperse from the front of his shop is about as powerful and assertive as Doug gets in the entire film. The rest of the time, his purpose is to make connections, acting as a bridge for others to walk over. And walk over him they surely do.
Best quote: Doug defends his lack of knowledge that notorious gambler Franky Four Fingers has a problem with gambling by reasoning "Avi, I'm not telepathic..."
