Ranking: The Biggest Protagonists From 2016's Summer Blockbusters
13. Dr. Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) - Ghostbusters
The Role: A physics professor at Columbia University and author of a book that attempts to prove the existence of paranormal entities, who eventually forms part of the titular ghost-battling quartet.
Though Ghostbusters is indeed an ensemble film, Kristen Wiig's character is clearly the leader of the group...and by far the least interesting of the four characters.
Wiig is fine, but honestly she's effortlessly overshadowed by Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in particular, making Gilbert a fairly bland leader and far away from the irreverence of Bill Murray's Peter Venkman.
Sure, her fawning over Chris Hemsworth's Kevin intermittently amuses, but given her comic stature, she's by far the most forgettable of the quartet, which is pretty surprising.
