Ranking Every Major MCU Villain From Worst To Best
6. Yellowjacket/Darren Cross (Ant-Man)
At first glance, Ant-Man's Darren Cross seemed to be a rather generic supervillain - he's an arrogant businessman, obsessed with power and wealth, and quick to anger (and kill). As the movie goes on, though, the audience realizes that Cross is a ball of insecurities whose experiments with Pym Particles have lead to psychosis - and that makes him a perfect foil for Scott Lang and Hank Pym.
Even more than the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man was the unlikeliest of Marvel film heroes. Hank Pym is a mental ill man prone to violent outbursts, while Scott Lang is an alcoholic ex-convict. The film adaptation kept Lang's prison time and some of Pym's anger while shining a magnifying glass on both men's feelings of inadequacy. A villain dealing with similar problems - but unable and unwilling to put others before them and himself - was tailor-made for Pym and Lang.
Corey Stoll's Darren Cross is pathetic at times, but that makes him even more dangerous, especially once he dons his Yellowjacket suit. He's been shunned and spurned, but he'll stop at nothing to win the respect his former mentor, Pym, never gave him... plus power and wealth.
