9. Sam Wilson's Suit
Sam Wilson’s debut uniform as the holder of the Captain America shield is a mixed bag.
On one hand, it is a mish-mash of the previous garbs and properties of the Falcon uniform, slapped together until it looks too busy. What keeps the previous suits easy to look at, is that blue is still the dominant color that all the other colors center on. Here, the white and blue colors are battling for supremacy, and we do not know where to look. It also needs to accommodate the heavy machinery of the wings, so the white parts that are his chest and shoulder area are disproportionately bulkier than the rest of the outfit.
Then the metallic wings spread out, and it all suddenly makes sense.
The chest area’s line patterns flow like they are connected to the skeletal structures of the wings. The design is not busy; it is just meant to go with a giant mechanical series of parts. The wings themselves are majestic in how large they loom, as the light shines in all its metallic red, white, and blue paint glory.
On the ground, it needs some work. It is in the skies where this bird is king.
