Ranking The Next 10 Superhero Films From Least Anticipated To Most

8. Dark Phoenix

Avengers Endgame
Fox

Another remnant from a distant age that's been sitting on a shelf at Fox for a few months too long, Dark Phoenix is going to have to put in a lot of heavy lifting to even have much of an impact by the time it comes out in February.

Originally slated for release this month, Fox wound up moving the film after receiving an incredibly underwhelming reaction to their incredibly underwhelming first trailer. When faced with the prospect of having to compete for box office business against the likes of Into the Spider-Verse, Bumblebee, Aquaman, and Mary Poppins Returns, Dark Phoenix went running like a dog with its tail between its legs.

Now, it's set for release on Valentine's Day (Fox trying in vain to recapture the magic of the first Deadpool's Valentine's Day release) but has little hope of genuine success. Again, with Disney/Fox buyout, this franchise is already as-good-as-dead.

The only real hope this film had was in selling it as a "true" adaptation of the Dark Phoenix Saga from the comics as opposed to the botched attempt in X-Men: The Last Stand. But that first trailer looks more like a Last Stand remake than anything else and unless something drastic happens in the next few months, this thing is pretty much doomed.
