Ranking The Super Bowl Movie Trailers From Worst To Best

6. Life

Nobody seems to be talking about Life, despite it starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds. The poster copies Passengers, and trailers so far present the film as an odd mashup of Alien, The Thing and Gravity. Whether the film turns out to be any good or not, its marketing has left a lot to be desired.

The Super Bowl trailer might be the best of the promotions so far, though. It is creepy, and retains a sense of mystery and dread. There is a good chance that many of the people who had never heard of this movie before would consider watching the film - and not a moment too soon, since the film is only 6 weeks away and has to start building up hype immediately if it has any chance of winning the weekend box office against Power Rangers, and repeat performances from Kong: Skull Island as well as Beauty And The Beast.

Gravity and The Martian were huge successes, and the reception for Alien: Covenant's trailer has been largely positive. Life is following in the footsteps of those films with its marketing, and whilst there isn't much in its trailers to stand out from its peers, it has made effective use of its Super Bowl slot.
