Ranking The Super Bowl Movie Trailers From Worst To Best

5. Transformers: The Last Knight

At this point, everyone knows what they're in for with a Transformers film, but with this Super bowl spot, there is at least an attempt to distance this fifth entry in the franchise from the previous films. This is surprisingly subdued and atmospheric.

The switching to scenes shot on IMAX helps demonstrate the scale of this particular film, and the use of voiceover is effective here. Tonally, this trailer stands out a little from the usual mayhem and destruction of past Transformers film. Even if it turns out to be more of the same, this trailer suggests some world-building and a particular kind of ambition not really demonstrated before.

It is one of the strongest Super Bowl trailers this year for exhibiting some real spectacle, and because of it is a Michael Bay film has a real understanding of how to make the most of being shown at the Super Bowl. It packs a lot in 30 seconds without feeling crowded, and we have an idea of what will unfold in the film.

In terms of editing and the craft involved in making a good trailer, this might be one of the best trailers out of all the Transformers films to date.
