Re-Casting The Lord Of The Rings Movies If They Came Out Today
5. Pippin - James Acaster
They say if you can do comedy you can do drama. Well, James Acaster can do comedy very, very well indeed.
Pippin (in the books at least) is described as the tallest and thinnest of the Hobbit foursome, and Acaster's lanky frame and gangly gait is already reminiscent of the Gondor Hobbit without him even opening his mouth. Just a shame he'll have to spend most of the time on his knees, though.
Acaster's comic style may also come in handy, with Pippin often being the source of comic relief and the trilogy's lighter moments. With his trademark aloofness and mock serious delivery, the young comic's style would suit an ironic version of the character- a Pippin who thinks he's more serious and dramatic than he actually is.
Also, James is originally from Kettering, in Northamptonshire, which is basically just the Shire anyway. What's more, he's familiar with Alex Brooker, having appeared on the Last Leg, so Acaster should have no trouble sharing a Green Dragon pint on screen with his pint sized partner in crime.
No word on whether he's a good singer, however.
