Re-Casting The Lord Of The Rings Movies If They Came Out Today

15. Galadriel - Tilda Swinton

Anyone who's familiar with LOTR will know that Galadriel is very very weird and just a little bit terrifying. From that whole speech thing about being a dark queen to replace Sauron, the elven queen of Lothlorien is just one power ring away from supervillain material.

That's not to say Galadriel should be the villain or whatever, although that'd definitely be an interesting route, but with Tilda Swinton in the role, there's a chance to see a take on the character that's just a little more morally ambiguous, with her own agenda for helping the Fellowship.

When it comes to weird and detached, Tilda Swinton is the undisputed champion. That's her characters, mind. In real life she's probably lovely.

In a portrayal that would likely be similar to her work as the Ancient One in the Marvel cinematic universe, Swinton's natural ageless, almost androgynous look would be a great choice for a wilder Galadriel. While Blanchett was great as a mostly benevolent, maternal figure, Swinton could delve further into the darker side of Galadriel, and truly portray a character who was a witness to Sauron's treachery and rise to power first hand.

Making her bald again would be a weird choice, though.
