Re-Casting The Lord Of The Rings Movies If They Came Out Today

14. Eowen - Katheryn Winnick

Lord Of The Rings
MGM

Eowen's character arc, about being perceived as too weak and looked down on by others, is one of the more relatable arcs in the high fantasy story of LOTR. Well, except for the whole fighting the Witch King part.

It would therefore suit any reboot to cast an actor who can portray both sides to Eowen; her vulnerability and frustration as well as her courage and battle prowess.

Hmm, it's a shame there's not an actress who's most famous character portrayal is all about outgrowing societal expectations to become a Rohan-like Shield Maiden.

Oh yeah, Katheryn Winnick from Vikings.

If you've seen Vikings, then you should need no persuading on why Winnick would be ideal for Eowen. The two characters are remarkably similar, except for the fact that one fights orcs and the other fights English people. Although both groups even have the same accent, so there's not much difference there either.

She'd even be an apt choice for a spin off series.

For not only has Winnick proven she can handle those story beats with ease and distinction, her time on Vikings has presumably meant she's no stranger to stunt battles and medieval weaponry either. The armies of Mordor don't stand a chance.
