20 Recent Movies That Were Sent Out To Die
1. Long Day's Journey into Night
And finally we have the long-delayed adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's legendary play Long Day's Journey into Night.
The drama starring Jessica Lange, Ed Harris, and Ben Foster was shot all the way back in 2022 by theater director Jonathan Kent, and in May 2024 Lange confirmed that the film had finally completed post-production.
It premiered at the Dublin Film Festival in February 2025 to solid reviews, yet despite awards buzz for Lange's performance, it was another 18 months (!) before Long Day's Journey into Night was acquired by Quiver Distribution, who sent it into cinemas just two weeks later.
Considering Quiver's dire track record with theatrical releases, there's absolutely no hope for this one becoming a theatrical breakout or awards contender, sadly.
Why it took quite so long for a well-received, star-studded adaptation of a beloved play to secure a bare bones release is totally puzzling, honestly.
