Reservoir Dogs: Every Character & Performance Ranked

3. Mr. Pink - Steve Buscemi

Reservoir Dogs
Miramax Pictures

This character, and this performance, is one of Tarantino’s most underrated.

There are so many great moments with Mr. Pink, kicking off in the diner with his refusal to pay a tip and ending with him hiding from the Mexican standoff before trying to flee with the loot. It is a brilliant character. Pink’s building paranoia and adamancy that there is a rat and that it was a set-up is great and the interaction with him and Mr. White is equally so.

Of the main four, Pink is the only one whose name we have no idea about and whose backstory is unknown. That may be frustrating, but we see everything we need from the character throughout Reservoir Dogs’ runtime.

Buscemi is fantastic and like a lot of Tarantino’s great roles, imagining someone else in the place of Mr. Pink does not fit right. It is Steve Buscemi’s role and he owns it.
